On July 2, the signing, inauguration, and appointment ceremony for the Joint Laboratory for Intelligent Urban Services and Human–Robot Collaboration (the “Joint Laboratory”), jointly established under the leadership of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (“HKUST (Guangzhou)”) and Beijing Yuedian Environmental Services Co., Ltd., was held at the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Ubiquitous Internet of Things with Integrated Sensing, Communications and Computing at HKUST (Guangzhou). Focusing on frontier fields such as smart cities, embodied intelligence, and human–robot collaboration, the event brought together representatives from universities, industrial groups, and technology companies. As a supplier of dexterous manipulation robots for embodied-intelligence applications, ChangingTek Robotics has established in-depth cooperation with HKUST (Guangzhou) and Beijing Yuedian Environmental Services.


Dr. Bai Guochao, founder and chairman of ChangingTek Robotics Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., said in his address that 2026 marks a critical turning point for the industry and that embodied intelligence is undergoing profound change. The sector has moved beyond the early stage of technology demonstrations and entered a new phase centered on practical deployment and disciplined execution. Dexterous hands are a key to the era of general-purpose robots. Enabling robots to achieve human-like perception and manipulation and autonomously complete delicate, diverse tasks in complex, unfamiliar real-world environments is both a major technical frontier and a shared industry challenge.

The ceremony also included the appointment of experts to the Joint Laboratory. Dr. Bai Guochao, chairman of ChangingTek Robotics, was appointed a member of the Laboratory Technical Committee and received his appointment certificate on site. The expert team brings together university research and management leaders, executives from leading urban-service companies, and prominent specialists in robotics, the Internet of Things, and industrial research.
